The renowned model car brand "AUTOart" is scheduled to release a 1/18 scale model car in March 2024, featuring the beloved car "TRUENO AE86" driven by protagonist Takumi Fujiwara from the classic racing anime series "Initial D" (INITIAL D). This will be the Project D Final Version, priced at 36,300 Japanese Yen.
Created by Japanese manga artist Shuichi Shigeno, "Initial D" is a youth manga centered on Japanese mountain pass racing. It was serialized in "Weekly Young Magazine" starting in 1995 and concluded in July 2013, with a total of 48 tankōbon volumes. In addition to the manga, related anime, films, live-action movie adaptations, and racing games have also been released. The characters and story are undoubtedly familiar to everyone. Protagonist Takumi Fujiwara appears to be an ordinary high school student, but under the tutelage of his father, Bunta Fujiwara, he possesses exceptionally skilled mountain driving techniques. This "Initial D" TRUENO AE86 released by AUTOart is the final version from the Project D team era, representing a major revision after six years. Utilizing 3D scanning technology, the accuracy of all parts of the actual car has been re-verified. Several details have been modified, including openable designs for the hood, both side doors, the rear hatch, and the luggage compartment. Each component within the car body has also been faithfully reproduced. The car body is made of alloy, enhancing its overall premium feel. AUTOart has always been a leading brand for high-end alloy model cars, making this a worthwhile collectible for "Initial D" fans.
