Originally, the editor thought that LEGO releasing three F1 race cars with numbers 10330, 42171, and 76919 on March 1, 2024, was already a lot. It turns out this idea was too naive! In addition to the 1/8 scale "Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance" in LEGO's Technic series, there's also this Pull-Back version, numbered 42165! The suggested retail price is US$26.99.
LEGO's strategy of releasing two different specifications of the same car model simultaneously within the same series seems a bit mischievous. The more detailed W14, with 1642 pieces, is for adults, while the pull-back version, with only 240 pieces, is for children. Adults and children alike can be captivated by the same race car and experience the building logic of the Technic series – it's a heartwarming scene no matter how you look at it!
Although the piece count isn't high, the visual fidelity is quite good, and the pull-back design certainly makes you want to play with it repeatedly. It's worth noting that the tires on this W14 are not slick tires like the three models mentioned above, but rather textured versions, possibly for better friction during pull-back play. Both versions of the W14 look really great, and collectors with limited display space might consider getting this one!
