BANDAI SPIRITS Hobby Division in Japan has announced today that the latest product from the 'FULL MECHANICS' series, known for its high-density details and ease of assembly, the "FULL MECHANICS 1/100 Sword Calamity Gundam" from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED MSV", is scheduled for release in May 2024.
The GAT-X133 Sword Calamity Gundam is a close-quarters combat specialized mobile suit modified from the GAT-X131 Calamity Gundam. It removes long-range armaments except for the chest-mounted "Scylla" multi-phase energy cannon, and is equipped with close-combat armaments improved from the Sword Striker Pack. These include the "Iron Breaker" rocket anchors on both arms, the "Midas Messer" beam boomerangs mounted on both shoulders, and two powerful 15.78m "Schwert Gewehr" anti-ship swords. Beam cannons have been added to the base of both sword hilts, allowing them to be used directly as firing weapons while stored on the back.
The "FULL MECHANICS 1/100 Sword Calamity Gundam" is based on the previously released regular version of the Calamity Gundam, utilizing some new parts to recreate the distinct shoulder, calf, backpack, and hand designs, as well as its armaments. The characteristic orange-yellow body color is reproduced through part molding. Additionally, a mini-figure of pilot "Edward Harrelson" is included. The overall design similarly features intricate armor lines, exposed frame, and mechanical structures, showcasing high-density details. The sophisticated multi-axis joint structures and interlocking mechanisms in various parts achieve excellent articulation, while significantly reducing assembly difficulty.
Regarding its armaments, the "Iron Breaker" rocket anchors on both arms can recreate their deployed state using the included single-core wire parts. The "Armor Schneider" short knives stored on the outer sides of both calves can be deployed by opening the armor and removed for use. The "Midas Messer" beam boomerangs can be posed in a throwing state with beam effects and the included stand. As for the main armaments, the two "Schwert Gewehr" anti-ship swords, when stored on the back, can recreate their firing state with multi-axis movable stands and beam effects. When used as greatswords, in addition to their individual beam effects, a dedicated effect part is included to recreate the combined state of the two swords.
