MEISHO MOVIE REALIZATION "SOHEI OBI-WAN KENOBI" Revealed!

BANDAI SPIRITS Collectors Division TAMASHII NATIONS, in collaboration with Japanese master sculptor Takayuki Takeya, today (7th) revealed its new work for the Star Wars-themed action figure collection series "MEISHO MOVIE REALIZATION" on its official Instagram: "SOHEI OBI-WAN KENOBI" (tentative translation)! It is scheduled for release starting May 2024.

The MEISHO MOVIE REALIZATION series, which began in 2014, is finally welcoming its first Jedi Master in 2024! Obi-Wan Kenobi appears in a Sohei (monk-soldier) style, and Obi-Wan is also the first work to feature a human facial sculpt. The attire for this "SOHEI OBI-WAN KENOBI" is based on the Jedi Knight's training uniform; in addition to the extremely rough texture created on the surface, the severe damage to the sleeves and hem further echoes Obi-Wan's character setting of exiling himself to the desert planet. Furthermore, the organization "Jedi Order" bears a certain resemblance to the concept of armed shrines and temples maintaining defensive power during Japan's Heian period.

Returning to the toy itself, Sohei Obi-Wan comes with a long sleeveless vest that can be freely put on and taken off, a belt with a lightsaber hilt and blaster holster attached, and a super cool conical hat constructed from bamboo and mechanical parts. Weapons include a Japanese katana that combines a blue lightsaber with a samurai sword, a pistol for ranged attacks, and several large stones & clear stands, evoking scenes of Obi-Wan's battle with Darth Vader in the series. We look forward to the full announcement.

"Master Qui-Gon, listen to me! This thing is much more useful than a lightsaber."
