Japanese model company KAIYODO's popular articulated figure series "AMAZING YAMAGUCHI" has, following the release of "Misaka Mikoto Winter Uniform Ver. " earlier this month, once again announced a new product based on the popular light novel "A Certain Scientific Railgun" – "Shirai Kuroko Winter Uniform VER.", slated for release in November 2024!
"A Certain Scientific Railgun" is a Japanese light novel series written by Kazuma Kamachi and illustrated by Motoi Fuyukawa, adapted into an anime by Japanese animation studio J.C.STAFF. The story takes place in Academy City, a massive metropolis where over eighty percent of students undergo esper development courses, acquiring various superpowers through drugs, hypnosis, and other methods. Within this city, at the prestigious Tokiwadai Middle School, there is an exceptionally powerful esper known as "Railgun," Misaka Mikoto. Alongside her junior and fellow Judgement member, Shirai Kuroko, they become embroiled in various incidents occurring within Academy City in their efforts to protect the city's peace.
Shirai Kuroko is the Judgement officer at Tokiwadai Middle School, Misaka Mikoto's junior and roommate. She refers to Misaka Mikoto as "Onee-sama" (Big Sister), and her ability is Level 4 Teleportation. Kuroko usually maintains a dignified demeanor, but she harbors an extreme, even obsessive, infatuation with her senior, Misaka Mikoto. Their interactions in the series are widely beloved by fans.
This "AMAZING YAMAGUCHI Shirai Kuroko Winter Uniform Ver." features a slender and light overall design, capturing Kuroko's agile posture from the anime. Similar to the previously released Misaka Mikoto, the sculpt is based on Tokiwadai Middle School's winter uniform from the anime, meticulously showcasing various details on the blazer. The thigh area also recreates the belt used to hold darts and metal bolts for a hand crossbow. The Yamaguchi-style joints, developed by master Katsuhisa Yamaguchi, are expertly integrated throughout the figure's clothing and body, ensuring excellent articulation while faithfully reproducing the character's appearance!
Regarding accessories, in addition to a school bag, three pairs of interchangeable hands, and one right hand holding the Judgement armband, the interchangeable face parts are an astonishing 9 pieces, allowing collectors to fully recreate Kuroko's various expressions during her interactions with Mikoto!
