KOTOBUKIYA, a Japanese toy company renowned for its exquisite three-dimensional works of ACG characters under its "ARTFX J" series, is releasing new figures based on the super popular anime "Haikyuu!!". In addition to "Kenma Kozume" in October, they will also release his best partner — "Haikyuu!! Tetsuro Kuroo" 1/8 scale figure, scheduled for sale in September 2024!
"Haikyuu!!" is an anime and manga series about volleyball, originally created by Japanese manga artist Haruichi Furudate and adapted by the Japanese animation studio Production I.G. The story follows the protagonist Shoyo Hinata, who, despite his short stature, possesses an immense passion for volleyball. After joining the Karasuno High School volleyball team, once a powerhouse, he and his teammates overcome difficulties and challenge one strong school after another.
Tetsuro Kuroo and Kenma Kozume both belong to the Nekoma High School volleyball club in the story. Kuroo is the team's middle blocker and captain, possessing a calm and collected personality, skilled in blocking and receiving.
This Tetsuro Kuroo figure, like Kenma's, is based on an illustration drawn by Takahiro Chiba, the animation director for "Haikyuu!!". Tetsuro Kuroo is depicted kneeling on one knee, supporting himself on a tree trunk, with a hint of a wild smile on his face, perfectly recreating the illustration. The dynamic movement of his wind-swept jersey, coupled with his defined muscle lines, showcases his powerful presence as the team's captain. A major highlight of both Nekoma character figures is their interaction with the wildcat representing Nekoma; a black cat stands on Tetsuro Kuroo's shoulder, giving the overall piece a flexible yet dignified aura.
