Japanese capsule toy brand Kitan Club (キタンクラブ), following its previous "Sitting Frog Series," has once again collaborated with Japanese frog model studio Kaeru no Mori Kobo (カエルの森工房) to release the "Kaeru no Mori Kobo Safe Return Frog Strap" capsule toy. Available in 4 types, the suggested retail price is 400 JPY per turn, with an anticipated launch in early March 2024!
Kaeru no Mori Kobo is a frog model studio located in Fukushima, Japan. After leaving their previous model company in 2001, the founder began creating and selling frog-themed illustrations and sculptures. In 2013, the studio relocated to Fukushima. Currently, they primarily conduct online sales and wholesale, occasionally participating in exhibitions. The artist conducts field research in mountains and forests every year to create more elaborate frog-themed models.
In Japanese, "kaeru" (カエル), meaning frog, is a homophone for "kaeru" (帰る), meaning to return. Therefore, this "Buji Kaeru" (無事カエル) also carries the meaning of "safe return." The "Kaeru no Mori Kobo Safe Return Frog Strap" measures approximately 4.9 cm tall, excluding the strap.
