BANDAI CANDY, the popular candy toy division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., recently announced that the "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE EX29 BIG-ZAM & CORE-BOOSTER" product, released in 2020 as part of the "Mobile Suit Gundam" theme, will now appear in the "CORE" series! The new product, "FW GUNDAM CONVERGE CORE BIG-ZAM & CORE BOOSTER," is scheduled for release in July 2024!
As a fortress-assault Mobile Armor produced by the Principality of Zeon, the MA-08 Big-Zam is equipped with one large Mega Particle Cannon, 28 omnidirectional anti-air Mega Particle Cannons, 6 air-to-air missiles, and two vulcan cannons, boasting extremely powerful offensive capabilities. Furthermore, the equipped I-Field Generator renders long-range beam weapons ineffective against it. However, this immense power comes with Big-Zam's extremely high energy consumption, allowing it to operate in space for only 20 minutes.
During the One Year War, Lieutenant General Dozle Zabi, commander of Solomon, piloted the Big-Zam in a desperate defense of Solomon. Since long-range beam weapons could not harm it, it was ultimately defeated when Sleggar Law piloted a damaged Core Fighter to ram the Big-Zam, allowing Amuro Ray in the RX-78-2 to strike it down with a beam saber. Up until the moment Big-Zam exploded, Lieutenant General Dozle Zabi continued to resist fiercely with his rifle.
This product's Big-Zam is slightly larger than the 2020 version, standing approximately 10.5 cm tall, and also includes the 005 and 006 Core Boosters, piloted by Sleggar Law and Sayla Mass, which engaged Big-Zam in battle. The Big-Zam is painted with colors inspired by the anime, and its leg parts are newly molded with metallic paintwork, making it more vibrant and detailed compared to the previous version. The large Mega Particle Cannon barrel on its chest and the interior of its thrusters are painted red, symbolizing energy, showcasing Big-Zam's powerful and imposing presence as it propels through space.
Accessories include anti-air missile effect parts, which can be used with a display stand to recreate missile launch effects. It also comes with a grudge effect part representing Lieutenant General Dozle Zabi's spirit behind him as he attacked Amuro with his rifle just before Big-Zam exploded, allowing for a combined display with Big-Zam!
