American toy brand NECA, following last year's "Sewer Lair Living Room Diorama," has announced a new product based on the 1987 animated series "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" – the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Cartoon) Donatello's Lab Diorama." With a suggested retail price of US$299.99, it is available for pre-order exclusively at the NECA Store, with an estimated shipping date of August 2024!
Although located in the sewers, the Turtles' lair in the 1987 animated series was fully functional, featuring not only a living room but also a kitchen, training area, rooms for the four turtles and their master, a garage for the Turtle Van, storage rooms, and more. In prime New York real estate, it boasted a surprisingly good layout (though lacking a bit in natural light).
This product faithfully recreates Donatello's lab scene from the animation, and can be combined with previously released 7-inch figures of the Ninja Turtles, Splinter, April, Casey, and others for play. It meticulously reproduces the original animated pipeline door and various conduits. The table drawers are also designed to open, allowing storage for Donatello's various inventions. The rooftop section depicts a New York City street, accurately representing the lab's underground location.
The product features two modes: "As Seen in Show" and "Shelf Display," allowing collectors to easily switch between display and play through articulated parts. Furthermore, this lab diorama can be connected to last year's living room diorama. We believe NECA will continue to allow fans to gradually build up that memorable sewer lair from their childhood memories!
