American collectible manufacturer Gentle Giant recently announced a new product from "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi": the "Gamorrean Guard" 1/2 scale bust! It is expected to ship in Q4 2024, limited to 1000 pieces worldwide, with a suggested retail price of US$250.
Among the various alien species in "Star Wars," the Gamorreans, with their green skin, robust physique, and pig-like snout, tusks, and head, are undoubtedly one of the most memorable. In the early classic trilogy, Gamorreans mostly appeared as guards for the crime lord Jabba the Hutt. Old-school toy collectors might be more accustomed to calling Gamorreans "pig soldier guards." In the recent Star Wars series "The Book of Boba Fett," two Gamorreans once again served as guards, also stationed on the desert planet Tatooine (laughs), though this time their allegiance was to the renowned Boba Fett.
This 1/2 scale bust of the "Gamorrean Guard" faithfully recreates its full, rounded contours and heavy equipment details based on the film's design from "Return of the Jedi." The face not only sculpts the rich muscles and fine lines of the green skin, but also applies highly organic gradient paintwork to the upturned pig nose, mouth, tusks, and horns, fully showcasing a vibrant, living presence. The brown attire and iron-gray armor convey the textures of leather and heavy metal, respectively, complemented by exquisitely crafted wrinkles and weathering effects. This is truly an amazing pig soldier!
