To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the TV anime "Digimon Adventure," Bandai Toys Japan has officially announced the latest product in the Monster Battle Machine series, the "Digivice -25th COLOR EVOLUTION-", slated for release in July 2024.
The Digivice is a device used by the "DigiDestined" in the original anime "Digimon Adventure," possessing a rich array of functions such as evolving partner Digimon, purifying dark forces, and locating allies. In reality, Bandai also released a Monster Battle Machine product with the same design in 1999, allowing players to raise various Digimon in this small LCD toy. Through a pedometer-like swing mechanism, players continuously advance the game, training, caring for, and evolving their Digimon to become stronger, defeating various formidable enemies encountered on their journey.
As a 25th-anniversary commemorative product, the "Digivice -25th COLOR EVOLUTION-" boasts significant advancements in both software and hardware. Its overall appearance is a new design based on the 1999 original, faithfully reproducing the anime's size and colors. The hardware is equipped with modern features such as a color LCD screen, USB Type-C rechargeable battery, full-color LED lights, and a vibration motor. This allows players to see richly colored characters and backgrounds in the game, and during battles and evolutions, it's accompanied by lights, vibrations, and classic anime soundtracks like 'Butter-Fly,' delivering an exhilarating immersive experience.
In the game, players can initially choose to become one of the eight "DigiDestined" from the anime, embarking on an adventure with their corresponding Digimon like Agumon and Gabumon, searching for the locations of other children and forming partnerships with them. The adventure scope faithfully reproduces scenes from the anime, such as File Island and Server Continent. Classic anime events, enemies, in-game music, and 8+8 character voices will all appear during the journey. There's even a camping system for interacting and playing with partners, allowing players to fully relive the story of the original "Digimon Adventure."
Regarding the battle system, players can now choose from three modes: "button mashing," "shaking the device," or "pressing specified buttons" for combat. As the number of victories increases, the "Bond Level" between the player and their Digimon will also rise. Higher levels allow Digimon to gradually evolve from Rookie to Champion, Ultimate, and even Mega forms. The evolution sequences are a complete recreation of those in the anime, not only reproducing the Digimon's rotation and scrolling text backgrounds but also simultaneously playing Digimon evolution lines and the passionate evolution BGM 'brave heart,' accompanied by light and vibration effects to deliver a full sense of emotion!
In addition to allowing mutual link battles between identical "Digivice -25th COLOR EVOLUTION-" units, it can also link battle with previously released "Digimon Monster Battle Machine COLOR" and "Digimon Pendulum COLOR"! Furthermore, this version of the Digivice includes a music appreciation system, which plays classic soundtracks while inserting in-game dialogue, making it even more exciting and moving for long-time fans.
