World-renowned film and television special effects company "WETA Workshop" recently announced its latest product from 'The Lord of the Rings': the "Witch-King of the Unseen Lands" 1/6 scale full body statue! Shipping is expected to begin in Q4 2024, with a suggested retail price of US$399.
The Witch-King of Angmar has no true name, only many terrifying legends. He is also known as the "Lord of the Nazgûl" and the "Lord of Morgul." He is Sauron's strongest subordinate, and it was he who wounded Frodo with a Morgul-blade at Weathertop in 'The Fellowship of the Ring.' His appearance riding a "Fellbeast" is truly terrifying and imposing! In the film, even Gandalf the White struggled against him, and Gandalf's staff was instantly shattered by the Witch-King. However, during the battle for Minas Tirith, the Witch-King was miraculously defeated by the combined efforts of Merry and Éowyn.
After WETA released the "Witch-King of the Unseen Lands" vinyl figure in their MINI EPICS series, they are now creating an exquisitely detailed 1/6 scale statue made of Polystone. The overall sculpting is handled by Brigitte Wuest, not only recreating the Witch-King's ethereal, ghostly appearance from the Weathertop scene in 'The Fellowship of the Ring,' but also featuring a translucent visual effect in the lower half of the statue, imbuing this Witch-King with an even stronger spectral aura. High levels of sculpting detail are applied to the facial contours, the crown symbolizing his original status as a human king, his tattered cloak, and more.
The Morgul-blade held in both hands by the Witch-King is crafted from alloy material. In addition to the abundant details carved onto it, the signs of age left on the blade are exquisitely rendered.
