BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, today announced the latest product from its alloy model series 'HI-METAL R', the "Scopedog Turbo Custom", based on the classic anime Armored Trooper VOTOMS, is scheduled for release in October 2024.
The official main AT "ATM-09-ST Scopedog", developed by the Gilgamesh Army, was the most mass-produced unit during the Hundred Years' War. In the series, in addition to being piloted by the protagonist Chirico Cuvie, its extreme versatility led to its modification into various derivative specifications, utilized across different units. The ATM-09-STTC Scopedog Turbo Custom, released this time, is an improved specification that appeared in the OVA anime Armored Trooper VOTOMS: The Last Red Shoulder. It features auxiliary propulsion nozzles added to the leg rollers and enhanced output, not only boosting the unit's maximum movement speed by 120% but also strengthening its armaments due to the increased power.
The "HI-METAL R Scopedog Turbo Custom" is based on the previously released Red Shoulder Custom. The entire unit is meticulously sculpted according to the anime's settings, featuring surface details, body markings, and the distinctive triple rotating lens on the head. Various parts are finished with matte and metallic paints to express the characteristic green camouflage and metallic details. Some joints are made with alloy parts, providing both joint stability and a wide range of articulation, allowing for dynamic poses such as holding a gun with both hands or squatting to fire.
In addition to the flexible articulated joint design, the unit also features various movable mechanisms, including a deployable head cockpit that reveals a meticulously detailed interior, allowing for scenes of the pilot boarding and disembarking with the included pilot figure. The legs are made with newly sculpted parts, and the rear armor of the calves can open to deploy the Turbo Custom's characteristic reinforced rollers.
Aside from the heavy machine gun also included with the Red Shoulder Custom, all other armaments are newly produced. These include the Turbo Backpack, Heavy Firepower Cannon, Handheld Rocket Launcher, 7-tube Missile Pod, Gatling Gun, Twin Rocket Launcher, Arm-mounted Cannon, and 4 spare magazines. This rich array of armaments can be freely attached to various parts of the unit for customization, allowing you to recreate the Scopedog forms piloted by the protagonist Chirico Cuvie and his comrades Muzza, Baiman, and Gregor.
