The latest installment in the classic American horror-comedy film series "Ghostbusters," "Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire," is set to premiere in Japan on March 29th. TOHO Cinemas Japan (TOHOシネマズ) recently announced the release of a ghost-catching car "ECTO-1" (エクト-1) themed popcorn bucket as part of "The Prime Collection (ザ・プライム・コレクション)" series! It is scheduled for exclusive sale at TOHO Cinemas in Japan on the movie's release date, with a limit of one per person, at a suggested retail price of 6,500 JPY (including popcorn). A detailed list of participating cinemas will be provided at the end of the article.
Making a "resounding" debut in the 1984 "Ghostbusters," the ghost-catching car ECTO-1, with its striking appearance and siren sounds that seemed to echo to the heavens, is undoubtedly one of the most iconic vehicles in film history in my opinion! While the detailed dimensions of this three-dimensional ECTO-1 popcorn bucket have not been announced, it can be seen in TOHO's promotional video that it has a substantial feel when held. In addition to being able to lift the roof to access the popcorn, the top mechanism also features a lighting function, which shows considerable dedication. The overall design of the vehicle is also quite good, including the "Ghostbusters" logo, the yellow ECTO-1 license plate, and beautifully sculpted front-end details.
