Japanese model manufacturer Max Factory has officially announced the first product in its all-new assembly model series, 'PLAMATEA,' featuring 'Hatsune Miku Happy 16th Birthday Ver.' from 'Piapro Characters,' with an anticipated release in September 2024.
The all-new assembly model series 'PLAMATEA,' jointly developed by GOOD SMILE COMPANY and Max Factory, features posable assembly models based on various humanoid characters from anime, manga, games, virtual singers, Vtuber, and more. Leveraging both companies' past experience in character model production, it boasts high-resolution, exquisite sculpting, while also inheriting the posable joint designs cultivated by the 'figma' series of articulated figures. Characters can be easily completed through precise part separation and multi-color molded parts. Some parts even come with pre-printed patterns and painted colors, allowing for a near-official product image appearance even with a straight build.
As the commemorative first release, it features 'Hatsune Miku,' the flagship character of Piapro and a long-time collaborator with both companies. This three-dimensional rendition is based on the commemorative design created by illustrator Rella specifically for the 'Hatsune Miku Happy 16th Birthday Figure Project' last year, celebrating Hatsune Miku's 16th anniversary. The main outfit incorporates small easter eggs of past software version designs on the tie and accessories. The 'Wings of Creation' on her back are composed of the 'Wings of Form,' filled with sculpting, painting, and other tools, and the 'Wings of Sound,' gathering various musical instruments, symbolizing Hatsune Miku's active trajectory as a creative subject over the past 16 years.
'PLAMATEA Hatsune Miku Happy 16th Birthday Ver.' is constructed with multi-color molded parts and partially pre-painted parts. Transparent materials are used to express the translucent quality of her twin-tail hair parts and the delicate, thin texture of her arm sleeves. Furthermore, three expression parts – 'smiling face,' 'laughing face,' and 'singing face' – are all pre-painted and can be directly interchanged.
The completed Hatsune Miku stands approximately 16 cm tall. Flexible articulated joints are present in her twin tails, neck, chest, waist, and limbs, allowing for a variety of poses when combined with the included articulated display stand. However, the official images only show one pair of open-palm hands, suggesting no interchangeable hand parts. The intricate 'Wings of Creation' on her back are also thoroughly reproduced with precise sculpting, showcasing various complex sculpting tools, painting tools, and musical instruments, and can be attached to both sides of her back with the aid of the articulated display stand.
