World-renowned high-end collectible figure manufacturer Hot Toys officially announced yesterday (28th) the latest product from "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" under its "DX Series" – the return of the wild and untamed Captain "Jack Sparrow" as a 1/6th scale collectible figure! Three versions will be released simultaneously: the "DX37 Regular Version", the "DX38 Deluxe Version", and the "DX39 ARTISAN EDITION" featuring rooted wool hair. This article provides details on the DX39 ARTISAN EDITION.
Crafted with new techniques in multiple areas under the "DX ARTISAN EDITION" specifications, the biggest difference between this "Jack Sparrow" and the DX version lies in the fully rooted hair sculpt. Hand-woven wool hair strands, braids and dreadlocks of varying colors and thicknesses are combined with fine strings, beads, and metallic hair accessories, further enhancing the realism of the hair both visually and tactilely. The facial sculpt of "Johnny Depp," including skin texture, classic smoky eye makeup, mustache, and goatee, is meticulously rendered with high sculpting prowess. Like the DX version, it includes two interchangeable facial expressions – a smiling face and a serious face – and features movable eyeballs to recreate his lively spirit.
The costume is equally meticulously crafted and exquisite, including a fabric off-white long-sleeved shirt, a silk-printed blue vest, a red striped sash, genuine leather boots, a leather belt, a coat, and a wealth of items adorned on his person, fully conveying Captain Jack's unique on-screen appearance and intricate realism. Accessories include two pistols, a cutlass, a dagger, a telescope, an LED light-up lantern, a glass bottle containing the Black Pearl, multiple interchangeable hands, and a Black Pearl deck base that appears to be identical in style to the DX38 Deluxe Version.
