Issued by Japan's MEGAHOUSE toy company, the diorama series "Realistic Model Series", designed to complement the 1/144 scale models of the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series, has announced its latest product, the "White Base Catapult Deck ANIME EDITION", scheduled for release in September 2024, to commemorate the 45th anniversary of "Mobile Suit Gundam"'s broadcast.
The Pegasus-class assault landing ship, second vessel "White Base", was the Earth Federation Forces' first space battleship capable of carrying Mobile Suits. During the One Year War, it carried V Project Mobile Suits such as the Gundam, Guncannon, and Guntank, which turned the tide of battle. While its performance wasn't top-tier, it was well-balanced and equipped with the "Minovsky Craft System" allowing it to enter and exit the atmosphere independently. When combined with the high-firepower Mobile Suits on board, it achieved unexpected results in combat. Due to the launch pads on both sides resembling a horse's forelegs, it was also dubbed "Trojan Horse" by the Principality of Zeon.
The "Realistic Model Series White Base Catapult Deck ANIME EDITION" is based on the standard version released in 2016 and has been re-colored with an anime-accurate scheme. Parts such as the hangar interior walls and catapult deck runway feature gradient dark green and dark blue tones, reminiscent of the "Mobile Suit Gundam" series broadcast in 1979, creating the texture of light shining on massive metal plates. Additionally, the product includes stickers printed with various texts, arrows, and other instructional patterns, enhancing the realism of the entire diorama.
Other features remain identical to the standard version. This 50 cm long diorama model includes hangar interior walls, three sets of MS stands, the catapult deck, catapult launcher, mechanical crane, and other accessories, along with mini figures of characters such as Bright, Amuro, Sayla, Kai, Hayato, and Ryu. The catapult launcher's slide rail is movable, allowing it to be combined with HG 1/144 scale Gunpla to recreate sortie scenes from the series, and the combination of the hangar and catapult can be changed as needed.
