The Danish LEGO toy company's largest-ever set with over 100,000 pieces, announced on April Fool's Day, April 1st, didn't come true. However, the subsequent countdown indeed marked the reveal of new products for "Despicable Me 4." Today (the 3rd), two sets have been unveiled: "75582 Brick-Built Gru and Minions" and "75583 Minions and Gru’s Family Mansion"! They are expected to be released starting in May 2024.
LEGO 75582 Brick-Built Gru and Minions
Suggested Retail Price: US$54.99, Total Parts: 839 pieces, Estimated Release Date: May 2024
First up is Gru and a host of Minions, built with over 800 pieces, emphasizing display. From the Minions' shapes and the base parts, it can be inferred that this set likely features an interlocking rotating mechanism. The Minions, with their elaborate decorations, are quite interesting, and you can also get many presumably valuable printed parts. However, the editor personally finds Gru's rendition quite questionable; in addition to not accurately replicating the animated design's body proportions, the face is constructed from multiple small parts rather than a large printed piece with a pointed nose. It's understandable that this might be to approximate Gru's face shape and deep-set eyes, but visually, it severely lacks overall facial coherence and might require viewing from multiple angles.

Suggested Retail Price: US$99.99, Total Parts: 868 pieces, Estimated Release Date: May 2024
Next is the standard movie-themed character and scene set. The front of the house recreates its impressive structure, and by turning it to the back, you can directly enjoy the interior features such as the red sofa, fireplace, rocket-shaped bed, and more. There's also a brightly colored treehouse. The minifigure lineup is a complete family affair, including Gru, Lucy, Margo, Edith in a pink suit, Agnes with overalls printed on her body, and Gru and Lucy's baby. For fans of "Despicable Me," just collecting this set is more than enough!
