Under the prototype supervision of genius sculptor Takayuki Takeya, the "TAKEYA-Style Jizai Okimono" series, co-released by Sentinel and Studio Ghibli, has announced a new product: the "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Ushiabu" non-scale articulated figure. It will be available in three versions: "Original Manga Color Ver.", "Movie Color Ver.", and "Clear Ver.". Each version has a suggested retail price of 5,000 JPY and is scheduled for release in August 2024!
The "Ushiabu" (ウシアブ) is a giant winged insect that appears in Japanese animation master Hayao Miyazaki's manga work "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind," and was also depicted on the cover of the first volume of the manga. In Studio Ghibli's first animated film, "Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind," the scene where Princess Nausicaä takes flight with an Ushiabu unearthed from the ruins of a Tolmekian large ship is also incredibly classic!
This product measures approximately 6.5 cm in length and has a wingspan of about 17 cm. The intricate sculpting faithfully recreates the Ushiabu's design as envisioned by Hayao Miyazaki, reproducing the rough texture of its exoskeleton, while the wings are rendered with transparent plastic material to achieve a translucent effect. It is available in three different color versions: The "Original Manga Color Ver." features a warm yellow paint scheme, replicating the colors from the manga cover; the "Movie Color Ver." adopts the pale purple coloration seen on screen when Nausicaä flies alongside it in the film; and the "Clear Ver." allows collectors to appreciate the Ushiabu's exquisite sculpting with a transparent visual effect! Regardless of the version, each magnificently showcases the charm of the giant winged insect from Master Hayao Miyazaki's work!
