The second wave of "Keroronen THE Gashapon Toy" (ケローネン ザ・カプセルトイ), a gashapon series featuring the "Keroronen" frog robot—a collaboration between Japanese sci-fi military maestro "Kow Yokoyama" and Japanese artist "Noriya Takeyama"—is set to be released starting July 2024 by benelic capsuletoy (ベネリック カプセルトイ), a gashapon brand under Japan's BENELIC (ベネリック) company. Each capsule will be priced at 500 JPY, with a total of 5 styles to collect.
Kow Yokoyama infused his signature sci-fi and military elements into Noriya Takeyama's bipedal frog-shaped character, resulting in "Keroronen," a frog robot that blends both design styles! According to Noriya Takeyama, Keroronen was originally conceived as an amphibious disaster relief robot, capable of assisting with various rescue efforts and post-disaster reconstruction during major earthquakes. In terms of design, Keroronen boasts a round body and stubby limbs, making it incredibly cute. When turned over, you can even see crab-like mechanisms and thrusters, and the pilot on its back is freely detachable.
Fully supervised by Kow Yokoyama and Noriya Takeyama, "Keroronen THE Gashapon Toy" meticulously recreates Keroronen's mechanical body at a height of 6 cm, featuring rotating mechanisms in its arms and waist. The pilot on top is also freely detachable. With its accessible price of just 500 JPY, it's definitely a must-have for mass collection! This second wave includes five color variations: in addition to the heavy-mechanical クロス改 (K9) and the red-and-white 4 號機 (Akashiyon), it also introduces vibrant and dreamy candy-colored versions, which are absolutely fantastic!
