Japanese shokugan distributor F-toys Confect (エフトイズ・コンフェクト), known for transforming everything from famous swords and vintage furniture to various tools and even dinosaur fossils into toys, has officially announced its latest shokugan from "Kaiju No. 8": "Kaiju No. 8 Weapon Collection" (怪獣8号武器コレクション)! A total of 10 types are available for collection, with a suggested retail price of 700 JPY per item, slated for release starting June 2024.
In the world of Japanese manga artist Naoya Matsumoto's "Kaiju No. 8," the battle suits worn by the Defense Force members are composed of Kaiju muscle fibers. Upon donning them, the suits assimilate to each individual's body shape, and a "Liberation Force" can be measured. The higher the Liberation Force value, the greater the power that can be unleashed from the battle suit. Each person's aptitude for weapons also varies. Members with captain or vice-captain level Liberation Force are specially equipped with unique weapons that maximize their combat power and fighting style, such as Kikoru Shinomiya's great axe, Vice-Captain Hoshina's twin katanas, Mina Ashiro's heavy sniper cannon, and more. Regular members, on the other hand, utilize standardized pistols, rifles, and knives.
The "Kaiju No. 8 Weapon Collection" exquisitely three-dimensionalizes the weapons issued to Defense Force members. Beyond faithfully recreating the weapons' substantial feel, the intricate mechanical details of firearms, and the textured grips of melee knives, the knives can also be sheathed. Paired with dedicated weapon stands and character cards designed according to the anime's settings, these pieces allow for a cool display of the weapons, effectively conveying the world of "Kaiju No. 8." In terms of size, they possess a considerable presence: the Defense Force pistol and knife measure 4 cm and 6.7 cm respectively, while the Defense Force rifle combined with the Uni slot part reaches an impressive 9.5 cm. Although the designs for Shinomiya and Ashiro have not yet been revealed, it is highly probable that they will be the great axe and heavy sniper cannon. Each of the 5 characters will come with two types of cards, making for a total of 10 items.
