To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the popular Japanese co-op hunting game series "Monster Hunter," BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd.'s immensely popular "Ichiban Kuji" brand, where every draw wins a prize, has announced the release of its latest commemorative product, "Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary," scheduled for early September 2024.
Launched in 2004, the "Monster Hunter" series boasts a 20-year history as an action game where up to four players can team up as hunters for a shared hunt. The game features no leveling system; instead, players rely on their growing personal skill, equipment enhancement, extensive time spent farming materials, and luck against the "mind-reading chip" to challenge increasingly powerful monsters. Over its 20-year development, the "Monster Hunter" series has seen console generations evolve, new elements injected into its combat system, and the birth of more diverse monsters and ecosystems. It is also set to release its latest title, "Monster Hunter Wilds," developed with new technology for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC/Steam platforms in 2025.
Currently, for the "Ichiban Kuji Monster Hunter 20th Anniversary," only sample images of the B Prize, the "Fatalis Character Figure," have been revealed. It meticulously recreates the imposing stance of the legendary Elder Dragon monster "Fatalis" perched atop a castle wall. Other prizes include bust magnets, art boards, charms, acrylic standees, and other merchandise incorporating "Monster Hunter" elements. It is expected that the 20th-anniversary main visual will be used to design various prizes.
