From Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company's collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, the popular alloy toy "METAL BUILD" series today announced full details for its latest product from "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED ASTRAY", the "Gundam Astray Blue Frame (Full Weapon Specification) -PROJECT ASTRAY-". This product is currently only available for pre-order by CLUB TAMASHII MEMBERS members of SKY rank or higher and is produced entirely by reservation.
The Gundam Astray series are mobile suits completed by Orb's state-owned enterprise "Morgenroete Inc." during its collaboration with the Atlantic Federation, by illicitly using the Atlantic Federation's MS development technology to enhance national defense capabilities. However, due to the failure in analyzing "Phase Shift Armor" technology, the armor was instead made from foamed metal, and the armor area was significantly reduced to maintain mobility. Although much of its defensive power was lost, its excellent maneuverability compensated for this deficiency. Among them, the Gold Frame, which possesses a golden frame, was developed with special specifications, allowing it to use GAT series armaments manufactured by the Alliance.
The "Gundam Astray Blue Frame (Full Weapon Specification) -PROJECT ASTRAY-" released this time is the first product in the "PROJECT ASTRAY" series. It is a modification of the general release version from 2016. In addition to revamped armor paint colors, the lower body has also been replaced with parts of the same design as the "Gundam Astray Red Dragonics". This not only gives it a taller and more slender physique but also features new knee joint interlocking mechanisms and waist sliding mechanisms for improved articulation, allowing for more natural poses such as high kneeling.
Armaments include the same beam saber, beam rifle, anti-beam shield, backpack, M68 "Cat Claw" 500mm recoilless rifle, and 3-tube short-range guided missile launcher as previous versions. Although the "8-tube short-range guided missile launcher" is also included, there is one less set than the 2016 version. However, it can still be fully equipped with armaments across its entire body to recreate the full weapon specification. Additionally, accessories include a "Perfect Sensor" head part designed by Junichi Akutsu, which can be freely interchanged with the standard head part.
