Japan's official Mobile Suit Gundam Gunpla flagship store, GUNDAM BASE, announced today that the latest event-exclusive Gunpla, "HG 1/144 Delta Gundam Unit 2," is scheduled for release on May 3, 2024.
The MSN-001-2 Delta Gundam Unit 2 originated from an original animation screened on the "DOME-G" dome screen at "Gundam Front Tokyo," the predecessor to the Odaiba Gundam Base, in 2015. This mobile suit is set in Universal Century 0087 as the successfully developed, completed version of the Delta Gundam, painted red, that "The Red Comet" Char Aznable (Quattro Bajeena) piloted, rather than the semi-finished "Hyaku-Shiki." It is equipped with an anti-beam coating and a transformable Wave Rider (WR) mode mechanism.
The "HG 1/144 Delta Gundam Unit 2" was previously sold at Gundam Front Tokyo in 2016 and is now being re-released as an event-exclusive item. The kit is a modification of the "HG 1/144 Delta Gundam" released in 2012, with its exterior parts changed to Char's signature red color scheme, and includes stickers to recreate the white lines and markings on the body. Accessories include a large beam rifle, a shield, and two beam sabers. The "Wave Rider (WR)" mode can be recreated by swapping parts.
