TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., which issues the 'S.H.Figuarts (Shin-Kocchou Seihou)' series that sculpts from the skeletal structure to give tokusatsu heroes their original cool appearance and natural articulation, today announced the latest product from the tokusatsu series 'Denkou Choujin Gridman', the "Gridman" action figure, is scheduled for release in January 2025.
The Hyper Agent Gridman was originally an energy lifeform without a physical body, who came to the human world to pursue the interdimensional criminal "Demon King Kahn Digifer". He resides in the assembled computer "JUNK" in the secret base of the three protagonists, Naoto Sho, Ippei Baba, and Yuka Inoue, transforming into the superhero image designed by Ippei. When Kahn Digifer unleashes monsters to attack the computer world, Gridman merges with Naoto to stop them, and can use various weapons and support machine programs written by Yuka to enhance his combat abilities. In addition to possessing powerful combat capabilities to defeat monsters, he can also repair the damaged computer world with his light beams.
For the "S.H.Figuarts (Shin-Kocchou Seihou) Gridman", action actor Hiroyuki Okano, who wore the Gridman suit during filming, was invited to have his entire body 3D scanned, modeled, and then sculpted into the base body, thoroughly reproducing Gridman's physique from the show. The exterior design was thoroughly supervised by Tsuburaya Productions' LSS modeling department and Takafumi Tanibuchi, the master who was responsible for creating the Gridman suit back then, faithfully recreating the detailed design and colors of the suit from the show.
While achieving an incredibly high-fidelity sculpt, composite materials and various articulation mechanisms are also employed to realize classic battle poses from the show. Parts of the main torso are made of soft vinyl to expand the range of motion, and combined with the pull-out mechanisms in the shoulder and hip joints, poses for special moves like "Gridman Beam" and "Neo Superconductive Kick" can be recreated. Furthermore, the thigh parts and knee armor are independent structures, just like the suit in the show, and will articulate in conjunction when the knee joint is bent.
Accessories include effect parts to recreate the special move "Gridman Beam", as well as the Plasma Blade and Barrier Shield. By replacing some parts and combining the Plasma Blade and Barrier Shield, two forms can be recreated: "Thunder Crash Sword Gridman Sword" and "Thunder Axe".
