To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Mechagodzilla's debut, TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from its high-end alloy toy series with light and sound effects, 'DX超合金魂'. The 'Mechagodzilla (1974)', originating from its first appearance film 'Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla', is scheduled for release in December 2024.
The original 'Mechagodzilla' was an Earth invasion weapon created by the Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens. Its exterior armor utilized extremely high-strength space alloy, mimicking Godzilla's appearance and donning a simulated Godzilla skin, making it look identical to the real Godzilla until its true form was exposed by humans after battling the genuine article. Not only was its appearance similar, but its capabilities also surpassed Godzilla's, possessing overwhelming firepower with powerful beam emissions and an endless supply of internally produced missiles, independent flight capabilities, and a shield that nullified atomic breath, plunging Godzilla into a fierce struggle.
Standing approximately 27 cm tall, the 'DX超合金魂 Mechagodzilla (1974)' is constructed from composite materials such as alloy, ABS, and POM. Its overall appearance faithfully recreates the suit from the film, meticulously detailing numerous rivet structures and various weapon designs. The entire body is finished with a metallic silver paint application featuring shading, enhancing the sense of metallic heft combined with the substantial feel of the alloy material. Including a 360-degree rotating head that allows for simultaneous front and back attacks, all joints throughout the body feature articulation mechanisms, and the characteristic bellows-like telescopic structure at the leg joints is also specially reproduced.
The 'DX超合金魂 Mechagodzilla (1974)' is equipped with rich light and sound effects, featuring built-in LED lights in both the head and chest. Each dorsal fin is designed as a sound effect button; by pressing the corresponding button or activating weapon mechanisms, it can play roars, in-film background music, attack sound effects, explosion sounds, and more, all synchronized with lighting, delivering a more immersive experience. Famous moves such as Space Beam, Cross Attack Beam, and Finger Missiles are all included. Furthermore, by replacing head and tail parts, its flying form can be recreated with corresponding visuals and sound effects!
