The highly popular 1/12 scale action figure series "One:12 Collective" from American toy manufacturer MEZCO TOYZ recently announced a new Marvel Comics-themed product: the "Captain America (Silver Age Edition)" 1/12 scale action figure. It is priced at US$95 and is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2024!
The "Silver Age" refers to the period from 1956 to the 1970s when American comics achieved commercial success and artistic evolution. After World War II, superhero comics waned due to concerns about their influence on teenagers and children, and they also came under the regulation of the Comic Code Authority established by the U.S. Congress. Works from this era were generally more conservative and patriarchal in style. However, the emergence of hugely popular classic characters like The Flash and the Fantastic Four during this period broke through the difficulties faced by hero comics, leading to many classic storylines. Marvel's father, Stan Lee, and comic master Jack Kirby also made immense contributions during this era!
This "Captain America (Silver Age Edition)" stands approximately 17 cm tall, crafted in the style of Captain America from the Silver Age. In addition to meticulously detailing the classic white three-dimensional wings on his helmet and the scales on his battle suit, it precisely recreates Captain America's iconic short shorts from the Silver Age! The product images sparked extensive discussion among fans, who, while marveling at the accuracy, also raised questions about the impact of using different materials for the crotch area on articulation and collectibility. The actual situation will only be known once the product is in hand.
Accessories include three interchangeable head sculpts, multiple sets of interchangeable hands, a shield, a shield strap, and a shield-throwing effect piece. Furthermore, it also includes the "Madbomb" weapon, which appeared in the classic Silver Age storyline "Madbomb," allowing for the recreation of various tense scenes from the comics!
