Toho Large Monster Series "Godzilla x Mechagodzilla Type-3 Kiryu (2002) High Mobility Type/Heavy Arms Type" Prototype Revealed!

Produced by Japan's PLEX company and distributed by X-PLUS company, the monster soft vinyl figure series "Toho Large Monster Series", which features monsters from Toho films, recently showcased a prototype of its latest work, "Type-3 Kiryu (2002)", from the movie "Godzilla x Mechagodzilla". The release date is yet to be determined.

The Mechagodzilla that appeared in the 2002 film "Godzilla x Mechagodzilla" is known in the story as Type-3 Kiryu, officially named "Multi-purpose Fighting System Type-3 (MFS-3)". This Kiryu was secretly constructed by the Japanese government using the salvaged bones of the original Godzilla from Tokyo Bay as its framework. Its propulsion system is controlled by a "DNA computer" structured from its bone marrow cells, allowing Kiryu to move with biological swiftness, fluidly execute close-quarters attacks, and even evade Godzilla's heat ray. It is also equipped with various armaments such as missiles, a Type-0 Railgun, Maser Blades, and the Type-3 Absolute Zero Cannon. However, the G-forces generated during operation are beyond human endurance, thus requiring remote control by the support aircraft "AC-3 Shirasagi".

From the exhibited prototype, one can see that the "Toho Large Monster Series Type-3 Kiryu (2002)" precisely sculpts the cool head design and intricate mechanical structure. Through painting and printing, it faithfully reproduces the silver-white armor and the fuselage markings on various parts. The gap in the chest part suggests that it might be possible to recreate the "Absolute Zero Cannon" deployment state by swapping parts. This product is expected to release a "High Mobility Type" through general retail channels, while the "Heavy Arms Type" will be sold as a limited edition through official designated channels such as Shonen RIC.
