American toy company Mattel's online sales platform Mattel Creations, which collaborates with fan creators to sell their works, recently announced the fourth lap (Lap 4) of its popular die-cast car series "Hot Wheels" in collaboration with renowned American artist Daniel Arsham. The new products, "Eroded Mustang" and "Eroded Safari", are priced at USD 70 each and are scheduled to be released on the Mattel Creations official website on May 16th at 09:00 AM Pacific Time.
Daniel Arsham is an American artist who has garnered significant attention in the contemporary art and trend circles in recent years. In his creations, he positions himself as a future archaeologist, engaging in "fictional archaeology," using eroded elements to present various contemporary pop culture items or products, creating a sense of temporal displacement. Previous works such as "Eroded Pikachu," "Eroded Charizard Card," and "Eroded R2D2" have all received considerable discussion and attention. His frequent and best-selling collaborations with the trend community make him one of the hottest contemporary artists today.
Daniel Arsham and Hot Wheels have previously released three "laps" of works, which included popular original Hot Wheels vehicles like "Twin Mill" and "Rodger Dodger," as well as real-world classic cars such as the "Porsche 356" and "Porsche 930." This time, Daniel Arsham once again applies his unique style to transform a 1968 Ford Mustang and a 1986 Porsche 911 Safari into Hot Wheels die-cast cars, presented in black and gray, respectively. The car bodies are perfectly scaled down to restore their original designs, with Daniel Arsham's signature eroded sculptural effects visible throughout the vehicle. The overall matte monochromatic finish gives them the texture of marble sculptures, showcasing the powerful allure of Daniel Arsham's fictional archaeology!
