Today (20th), Japan's Kaiyodo company announced on its social media platforms, in addition to "'Mina Ashiro' and 'Kikoru Shinomiya'", another new product with a "Kaiju No. 8" theme: the "Kaiju No. 8 vs. Kaiju No. 9" 1/18 scale pre-painted figure. The suggested retail price is 6,600 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in January 2025!
"Kaiju No. 9" first appeared in the sixth chapter of the manga during the Defense Force's assessment arc. It was the first kaiju discovered to possess linguistic abilities. Upon its appearance, it revived all the kaiju that Kikoru had defeated, plunging the squad members back into crisis. Ultimately, Kafka, transformed into Kaiju No. 8, resolved the revived kaiju threat, but also inadvertently exposed his identity to Kikoru.
This "Kaiju No. 8 vs. Kaiju No. 9" figure is sculpted by Akii, creating a scene of Kaiju No. 8 and Kaiju No. 9 in a head-on confrontation. The muscular textures of both kaiju are meticulously carved, and the contrasting rough and smooth skin textures are rendered, reproducing various details on both creatures. The dynamic pose captures Kaiju No. 8 delivering a punch attack towards Kaiju No. 9, complemented by a shattered base and impact effects, showcasing the intense offensive and defensive battle between the two!
