Danish toy company LEGO will release two Simba sets, one large and one small, from Disney's classic animated film "The Lion King" in June 2024. These are the "43243 Simba the Lion King Cub" and the "43247 Young Simba the Lion King"!
LEGO 43243 Simba the Lion King Cub
Suggested Retail Price: US$19.99, Total Pieces: 222, Estimated Release Date: June 1, 2024
Let's start with Simba in his cub years! The 43243 set contains 222 pieces, and once assembled, you'll get an 11 cm tall little Simba, featuring articulated limbs and tail, and a rotatable head. His ears and eyes are represented by printed elements. Additionally, other pieces can be used to build the leaves and bugs that serve as little Simba's food – that hot dog piece here is definitely not a hot dog, but rather the memorable, wiggling bugs from the animation! The fur at the tip of his tail is represented by dark brown flame pieces, and with the articulation, you can easily pose little Simba in playful stances.
LEGO 43247 Young Simba the Lion King
Suggested Retail Price: US$129.99, Total Pieces: 1445, Estimated Release Date: June 1, 2024
Next up is the 43247 Young Simba the Lion King, which boasts 1445 pieces and stands 29 cm tall, offering a much more detailed overall presentation. Unlike the 43243 Simba the Lion King Cub, this set does not feature extensive articulation but instead focuses more on faithful sculpting. A large number of yellow and sand-colored pieces are used to build the slightly older, adolescent Simba. The shape of his head, the design of his ears, and the curve of his mouth, among other details, are all rendered with various curved elements, achieving both a rounded feel and a sense of depth. Once assembled, you can also rotate his head and adjust his tail's angle to showcase Simba's vibrant energy!
