Hong Kong toy brand threezero's "FigZero" 1/6 scale collectible figure series, which features characters from American and Japanese anime, manga, and tokusatsu, has launched a new product based on Hasbro's renowned IP G.I. JOE — the "Snake Supreme Cobra Commander" 1/6 scale collectible figure. It has a suggested retail price of US$159.99 and is currently available as a BBTS (Big Bad Toy Store) exclusive in the United States, with an estimated shipping date of June 2024!
The "G.I. JOE" toy series originated in 1964 as soldier doll toys released by American toy manufacturer Hasbro for boys. Its name was taken from the 1945 film "The Story of G.I. Joe." To prevent boys from finding the term "doll" too feminine, Hasbro coined a new term for these boys' toys upon their release: "Action Figure," which remains the generic term for all articulated figures today. The G.I. JOE series that toy enthusiasts are more familiar with is Hasbro's re-marketed 3.75-inch action figure line, "A Real American Hero," released in 1982. This series reimagined "G.I. JOE" as a special forces unit battling the evil Cobra organization, heavily promoted through comics and animated television, and launched hundreds of action figures, making it one of the most successful toy lines in history!
Cobra Commander is the leader of the series' antagonist, the Cobra organization. He rules with an iron fist, demanding absolute loyalty from his subordinates, with the goal of controlling governments, people, wealth, and resources through revolution and chaos. This "Snake Supreme Cobra Commander" stands approximately 30 cm tall. Its military uniform, cape, gloves, boots, and other costume accessories have been meticulously redesigned by threezero, making the overall appearance more noble and elegant. The golden embroidered texture on the chest features the iconic red "Cobra" organization emblem, while the helmet and mask are electroplated in gold. Paired with the included scepter and various weapons, it perfectly captures the powerful, oppressive aura of Cobra's fanatical leader!
