Japan's Kotobukiya (KOTOBUKIYA) toy company, renowned for its "ARTFX J" series which creates exquisite three-dimensional figures of ACG characters, has launched three new products based on the popular anime "Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story" — "Kenshin Himura," "Hajime Saito," and "Sanosuke Sagara"! This article will focus on the "Kenshin Himura" 1/8 scale PVC pre-painted figure, with a suggested retail price of 16,500 JPY, scheduled for release in November 2024!
"Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story" is an adaptation of Nobuhiro Watsuki's manga "Rurouni Kenshin," produced by LIDENFILMS, and is a remake of the 1996 anime. It tells the story of the legendary Bakumatsu swordsman, the wandering "Hitokiri Battousai" Kenshin Himura, who, after being persuaded by Kaoru Kamiya, the acting master of the Kamiya Kasshin-ryu, settles down. However, due to his complex past, he becomes embroiled in various incidents, challenging opponents who come his way.
This Kenshin Himura 1/8 scale PVC pre-painted figure stands approximately 20.2 cm tall, capturing Kenshin in battle, wielding his Sakabatō (reverse-blade sword) in one hand and its sheath in the other, executing the "Hiten Mitsurugi-ryu Battōjutsu: Sōryūsen" technique. His flowing red hair and attire enhance the dynamic tension of his combat pose, and the paintwork emphasizes the overall light and shadow effects, faithfully recreating Kenshin's cool appearance from the anime!
Pre-ordering at the KOTOBUKIYA SHOP will also include a special bonus: an interchangeable open-mouthed expression part for Kenshin, adding even greater intensity to the overall display!
