MOVIC Co., Ltd. (株式会社ムービック), a Japanese company specializing in various anime and manga merchandise, will release a "Mimic Plush" based on the popular manga series "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End." The suggested retail price is 22,000 JPY, with an anticipated release in September 2024!
The Japanese manga "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End," written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, tells the story of the elven mage "Frieren" and her companions—the human hero Himmel, the dwarven warrior Eisen, and the human priest Heiter—after they return as heroes from a decade-long adventure. Frieren, an immortal elf who has lived for a thousand years, perceives the passage of time differently from mortals. After witnessing the deaths and aging of her companions, she begins to deeply understand the impermanence of life and regrets not having truly known others. With the passing of the hero Himmel as a turning point, Frieren embarks on a new journey to experience the meaning of life and time.
Frieren is always tempted by Mimics, repeatedly getting trapped in their large mouths during her journeys. This "Mimic Plush" recreates the iconic scene where Frieren's head is bitten by a Mimic. Measuring approximately 42 cm, it has a significant presence. Compared to Frieren's "It's so dark! It's scary!" traumatic experience, the plush is soft and comfortable to the touch. However, the Frieren figure stuck inside the Mimic still sports a comically tearful expression (the overall expression is quite subtle, perhaps it's better to keep her buried in the Mimic!) – both hilarious and adorable!
