PLEX Corporation of Japan produces, and X-PLUS Corporation distributes, the soft vinyl figure series "Toho 30cm Series", which features Toho special effects monsters. They have announced their latest product from "Shin Godzilla", the "Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla (2016) 4th Form Luminous Ver.", with a suggested retail price of 36,850 JPY, scheduled for release in October 2024. This is a limited edition version sold at the official stores GODZILLA STORE and Shonen RIC.
The "Toho 30cm Series Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla (2016) 4th Form Luminous Ver." recreates the GK (Garage Kit) originally sculpted and released by monster sculptor Yuji Sakai in 2017. It was re-molded into a metal mold and reproduced in soft vinyl, faithfully capturing the intricate details of the original prototype, including the highly dense, wrinkled and protruding skin across its entire body, and the multi-layered coral-like dorsal fins on its back. This luminous version makes a comeback! With a height of approximately 43 cm and a length of 43 cm, it recreates the classic scene from the main trailer where Godzilla appears on the elevated bridge.
Under the supervision of Mr. Sakai, all body parts are molded from transparent material, with silver paint applied to the inside. The semi-transparent coloring then expresses the black skin, dorsal fins, and tail, through which red light emanates. Some parts utilize the same mold as the "Toho 30cm Series Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla (2016)" released in 2018, incorporating an internal LED lighting mechanism to achieve the powerful effect of the body glowing!
