Produced by Japan's PLEX Co., Ltd. and released by X-PLUS Co., Ltd., the soft vinyl figure series "Toho 30cm Series," which features Toho special effects monsters, recently announced the latest product from the film "Shin Godzilla: ORTHOchromatic," the "Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla (2016) 4th Form ORTHO Ver.," slated for release in October 2024.
The Godzilla that appeared in the film "Shin Godzilla" was jointly designed by director Hideaki Anno, designer Mahiro Maeda, and sculptor Takayuki Takeya. It is a colossal "perfect organism" capable of rapid evolution and devolution, quickly adapting to its environment, and undergoing several evolutions within hours of landing in Japan. Godzilla possesses a "thermonuclear energy conversion bio-organ" within its body, seemingly able to generate immense energy without needing to feed and release radioactive substances. The heat ray it emits from its mouth instantly incinerates the bustling streets of Tokyo, completely exceeding the current scope of human knowledge.
The "Toho 30cm Series Yuji Sakai Modeling Collection Godzilla (2016) 4th Form ORTHO Ver." is based on a modified version of the masterpiece GK prototype created by sculptor Yuji Sakai in 2017. It立体化s the iconic scene from the movie trailer where Godzilla passes by the railway and is re-colored with a low-reflectance grayscale palette, faithfully reproducing its appearance in the newly released black and white film version, "Shin Godzilla: ORTHOchromatic."
Through a precise manufacturing process, this soft vinyl figure extensively reproduces the intricate details of the prototype, capturing the terrifying head sculpt of this Godzilla, its bitter gourd-like skin texture across its entire body, and the dense dorsal fins extending from the back of its neck all the way to its massive tail. The areas that originally emitted red light are now rendered with transparent parts and internal silver painting, conveying the glowing texture as seen in the black and white film.
