[CCSTOYS MORTAL MIND] I Got a Defective Unit Again! A Super Frustrating Unboxing of Great Mazinkaiser - Nostalgia and Memories are Priceless

Ever since I started collecting the CCSTOYS series of alloy toys, there's been no going back. Whether it's the price, the paint application, or the articulation, they are top-tier masterpieces in my book. In addition to these three points, the extensive redesigns are also something I love. In terms of price, the value for money is incredibly high compared to Bandai's entire Metal Build series.

Today, I'm sharing a piece that was released quite a while ago, about a year back: the Great Mazinkaiser by CCSTOYS. I won't go into a lengthy introduction for this one, as many fellow collectors have already detailed it in their unboxings.

This unboxing was actually quite a downer. After the broken part on my last Cybaster, this time I was straight-up missing a crucial component. Yes, a crucial part, and a unique one at that. I was stunned when I saw it. The frustration hit me hard, and I almost didn't want to continue. My wife, standing beside me, said, "You've already started washing your hair, aren't you going to rinse it out?" And just like that... I carried on, unboxing this Great Mazinkaiser fueled by nostalgia and memories XD

I probably won't be able to get a replacement part for this. The main reason is that I bought it a year ago and am only just opening it now, so the chances of getting a replacement are extremely low. I didn't open it for inspection when I first got it. I only recently started unboxing my backlog.

Another issue is that when I took the main body out, I discovered the left and right arms were installed incorrectly. The elbows bend backward, not forward. I suspect this was a factory error during packing, as I confirmed the shipping box had not been cut or torn open. As for the paint job, it's perfect this time, with no flaws or scratches.

Below is my super frustrating yet simple unboxing. I hope you all enjoy it. Next up should be Evangelion Unit-01 XD

▼Video Version

▼The outer box features the classic, unchanging CCSTOYS style packaging.

▼From its appearance against the General of Darkness.

▼Side of the outer box.

▼Although it's a Super Robot, the box is much smaller than Gunbuster's. After all, Gunbuster is a colossal machine even within the Super Robot category.

▼A masterpiece of power.

▼The outer box opens with a flap lid, revealing a piece of artwork and an instruction manual.

▼The "GREAT MAZINKAISER" text is embossed.

▼The instruction manual is concise, in their usual style.

▼This box has two sets of accessories: drills for both hands, two short swords, and effect parts. Honestly, I wish the missing part was an effect part or a drill, since those come in pairs. But no, it had to be a unique, single weapon part.

▼The light-up effect hands, interchangeable hands, head, Brain Condor, and other parts are on this layer.

▼Missing part. A crucial, one-of-a-kind piece is just gone. I wanted to cry. On second thought, it's a good thing this part was missing from this tray; if it were one of the thigh parts, I'd probably be even more devastated.

▼On the left is the display base, and the box on the right contains another layer of effect parts.

▼The main body is housed in styrofoam packaging.

▼Two parts were not in plastic bags. I'm not sure if everyone else's is like this?

▼The main body makes its official debut.

▼The paint quality is impeccable, maintaining the high standard it should have. The silver has a hint of black, while the main body color is a deep blue.

▼There's a light-up feature in the neck area. The neck is detailed in gold with panel lining. The battery is installed in the chest.

▼The elbow joint uses a gold metallic part. It was only at this point in the photoshoot that I realized it looked different from the other arm. Upon inspection, I found the other arm was on backward.

▼The back. You can clearly see that the elbow joints of the two arms are facing different directions.

▼It should be more obvious from this angle.

▼So, I strongly suspect that the factory worker installed the arms backward during packing, and then thought, "Oh well, since it's already backward, let's just leave a part out too." I can almost hear them thinking, "Congratulations to the customer who buys this defective unit."

▼That gold is truly magnificent!

▼Brain Condor.

▼The nose cone can be folded for docking with the head.

▼The chest heat sink with light-up feature and magnetic attachment.

▼This head sculpt truly amazed me. No small detail was overlooked or rushed; the detail painting is exquisite.

▼You think CCSTOYS only gives you a great paint job? Then you underestimate their standards. Besides the paint, they also give you light-up effects.

▼Assembly complete.

▼Front close-up.

▼Upper body close-up. It's just so cool~

▼The arms are burly yet streamlined, a combination of power and beauty. The pegs that connect to the main body are made of metal.

▼Arm articulation range.

▼One word: Awesome.

▼The Great Booster appears. It's ridiculously large, befitting the commanding presence of a Super Robot.

▼The Great Booster's main color scheme is red and orange, with a metallic green accent in the center. The panel lining adds even more texture.

▼The pegs on both sides are made of metal.

▼The detailed paintwork on the underside is the most spectacular part.

▼Pulling out the nose cone activates a linkage with the rear thrusters. (Can be seen in the video).

▼The paint on the thrusters is also meticulously done.

▼Nose cone extended.

▼Thruster linkage.

▼How big is the Great Booster when combined with the wings? I had to pull the camera back to its widest angle to fit it all in the shot XD

▼The spikes on the wings can be extended, revealing small golden details.

▼The tail fins have some slight articulation.

▼The wings can be bent.

▼The wing joints are made of metal, so you can play with them without worry.

▼Close-up of the underside.

▼The complete form appears.

▼The interchangeable hand parts attach via magnets. There are three hand effect parts: two open palms and one pointing finger.

▼Two short swords and one greatsword.

▼The guard of the Kaiser Sword is a translucent part that can be opened and closed. The paintwork on the hilt is also meticulously done.

▼Studio shots. Missing a replacement part, so I couldn't photograph the Knee Impulse Kickers XD
