Dark Horse Direct, the brand under independent American comic publisher Dark Horse Comics that integrates and sells various entertainment merchandise, has partnered with game developer Crystal Dynamics to launch a new product based on the classic game Tomb Raider — the "Lara Croft Classic Era" PVC Statue. It has a suggested retail price of US$89.99 and is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2025!
Tomb Raider was originally an action-adventure game launched by British game company Core Design in 1996 on the SEGA SATURN. It later spawned numerous game sequels, novels, comics, and film adaptations. Lara Croft is the protagonist of the game series. When she first appeared in the original game, due to 3D technology being in its nascent stages, the insufficient polygon count meant her curvaceous figure could only be rendered in a blocky fashion. That angular design later became a beloved meme among gamers!
This Lara Croft PVC statue is inspired by the 'Tomb Raider I-III Remastered' collection, a remaster of the first three games released earlier this year across multiple platforms. It brings to life Lara's relatively simple, classic original appearance from the game!
