The 1/100 scale Gundam plastic model kit series "MG (Master Grade)", known for its excellent part separation, internal frame structure, and rich articulation mechanisms, released by Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company's HOBBY Division, has announced its latest product from the drama "Mass Production Riko": "Riko's Zaku", scheduled for release in December 2024. This product will be sold exclusively on Premium Bandai, Bandai's official online store.
"Mass Production Riko" is a television drama centered around the theme of "plastic model kits," featuring various actual model kits in the show. The story follows the protagonist, Riko Komukai, played by Yuki Yoda (Nogizaka46), who, as an extremely ordinary "mass-produced human," begins to question her life. One day, encouraged by a model shop owner, she completes her first model kit, the "1/144 Mass Production Zaku," from "Mobile Suit Gundam." Riko not only becomes passionate about this new hobby but also gradually finds her self-identity and life direction through the process of assembling model kits.
To commemorate the broadcast of the third season, "Mass Production Riko: The Final Model Girl's Life Assembly Record," the Gunpla "Mass Production Riko's Zaku", which appeared in the drama, is now being立体化 (rendered in three dimensions) in MG specification. The product is based on the "MG 1/100 Zaku II 2.0" and has been modified, with the color scheme personally designed and supervised by Yuki Yoda, who plays the protagonist. It features a unique color scheme composed of yellow, green, and white, while also retaining the red shoulder armor, which was a corrected painting error from the drama.
Armaments include the Zaku Machine Gun, Zaku Bazooka, Heat Hawk, and a 3-tube Missile Pod, allowing for dynamic battle poses with the excellently designed articulated frame. Accessories include a rich variety of stickers featuring the "Mass Production Riko" title LOGO, the LOGO of the "Yajima Model Shop" from the drama, and Yuki Yoda's personal doodles. Furthermore, the packaging box adopts the main visual design of "Mass Production Riko."
