Following the previous "Ultraman & Emi," TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors' division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has once again announced a new product under its S.H.Figuarts articulated figure brand. This new item is based on the animated film "ULTRAMAN: Rising," recently released on Netflix – the "Ultraman Dad" (ウルトラダッド) articulated figure. It has a suggested retail price of 7,500 JPY and is scheduled for release in January 2025!
In "ULTRAMAN: Rising," the protagonist Ken Sato's father, Dr. Sato Nagumo, was the previous Ultraman. In his youth, he was often preoccupied with sudden disasters and couldn't properly accompany Ken, leading to their gradual estrangement. It wasn't until Ken asked his father for help to save the Gigantron's child, "Emi," that the two gradually mended their past rift during the process. "Ultraman Dad" (ウルトラダッド) is Ken's playful nickname for his father in the film.
This "Ultraman Dad" figure is crafted based on Dr. Sato's appearance when he transforms back into Ultraman at the end of the film, fighting alongside Ken, Emi, and Gigantron against Dr. Onida. It faithfully recreates the amusing image of the aged Ultraman, complete with a beard and a slightly shrunken physique. The entire body features the same vibrant silver and red paint scheme as Ultraman. In terms of accessories, in addition to effect parts for punching attacks as seen in the movie, it also includes a Specium Ray effect part. When displayed with the Ultraman figure, scheduled for release in July, collectors can recreate the heartwarming scene of father and son fighting in unison from the film!
