KOTOBUKIYA, the Japanese model manufacturer, has announced today the latest product in its popular "Megami Device" plastic model kit series, which combines colorful mechanical equipment with highly articulated bishoujo bodies. This new item, "BUSTER DOLL Knight Darkness Claw," built with a next-generation new body, is scheduled for release in December 2024.
The "BUSTER DOLL" series utilizes the "Machineca Block2-M" articulated body, newly developed by sculptor Masaki Apsy. Compared to previous bodies, the part structure has been completely revamped, developed with a focus on significantly improving assembly convenience and part interchangeability, while also enhancing the aesthetic beauty of the body lines. Its features include:
- Multi-sized and multi-length spherical neck joints compatible with various KOTOBUKIYA product specifications
- Achieves the series' first built-in articulated frame structure, greatly enhancing part interchangeability
- Features one-piece molded leg armor parts and a post-assembly design, reducing unsightly seam lines and facilitating painting and customization
- Adds 3mm peg connection points for weapons on both ears, shoulders, wrists, thighs, and calves
- Adopts a layered armor system, further subdividing the series' traditional body and armed modes into four modes: Body, Costume, Light Armor, and Heavy Armor
- Includes numerous hardpoint expansion parts, significantly increasing weapon expandability
- Utilizes a new dedicated stand with an articulated support arm featuring more axes of articulation to stably assist the main body in various poses
- The traditional PVC soft plastic hand parts have been changed to hard plastic, with the weapon-holding hands capable of accommodating both round and square weapon grips, allowing for easy fixation after inserting parts
This release, "BUSTER DOLL Knight Darkness Claw," is an alternate color version of the previously released product "Knight." The parts are newly molded in dark tones such as blue-purple, black, and gunmetal, which, in the lore, enhances its concealment in night combat scenarios. Additionally, three new pre-painted face parts with updated expressions are included, and the body's limbs have been replaced with uniform skin-tone parts, giving the appearance of wearing a cute swimsuit.
The overall weapon accessories are essentially the same as the regular version. In addition to the pure black underwear, it also includes costume parts designed after a sailor uniform, as well as external armor, a backpack, and sword-and-shield parts with numerous expansion holes. These can be combined sequentially to form Body Mode, Costume Mode, Light Armor Mode, and Heavy Armor Mode. Of course, you can also freely customize unique designs using the same 3mm expansion holes.
