Hong Kong toy brand threezero announced that the previously developed 'Ideon' themed product from 'Space Runaway Ideon', a five-year collaborative effort with popular Japanese sculptor Takayuki Takeya, will be released in a monotone version. Limited to 100 units worldwide, it will be available for limited on-site purchase at two designated venues: ChinaJoy in Shanghai from July 26th to 29th, and Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong from July 26th to 30th!
'Space Runaway Ideon' (伝説巨神イデオン) is a robot anime produced by Sunrise in 1980. The story tells of Earthlings discovering alien ruins left by the 'Sixth Civilization' on the colony planet Solo. Simultaneously, the alien Buff Clan arrives on Solo to research the legendary Ide power (イデ). Due to mutual misunderstanding, the Buff Clan wages war against the Earthlings on the colony. The protagonist, Yuki Cosmo, pilots the robot Ideon (イデオン) to fight the Buff Clan, and the story unfolds around continuous misunderstandings, hatred, and the desire for the infinite energy of Ide.
This 'Ideon Monotone Ver.' articulated figure stands approximately 46 cm tall, based on the previously released 'Ideon' sculpted by Takayuki Takeya. It retains the unique elements of the anime version of Ideon while boldly redesigning its original blocky appearance, combining organic and mechanical structures. The overall religiously-inspired design better fits the setting of being created by an alien civilization. The entire body features over 125 points of articulation, utilizing a zinc alloy die-cast frame, with 5 LED light-up functions in the eyes, wrists, and abdomen. The biggest difference between this version and the previously released one is the use of a single earthy yellow tone for the outer shell, a color palette frequently employed by Takayuki Takeya when drawing concept art. This creates a visual effect reminiscent of wood or antique bronze, and when combined with the green LEDs, the entire piece exudes the ancient and powerful presence of an unearthed alien civilization!
Limited pre-orders will also be available at designated retailers and the threezero Store. Sales information will be announced later!
