Japan's Megahouse toy company's high-end collectible figure series, "Ultimate Article," known for its realistic sculpting and special features, will be relaunched under the new name "UA (Ultimate Article) Mechanical"! The series' first release will be a product based on the new July anime "Grendizer U" – the "Grendizer" (グレンダイザー) pre-painted finished product. The suggested retail price is 41,800 JPY, with an estimated release in January 2025!
The TV anime "Grendizer U" (グレンダイザー U), officially premiering in July and produced by GAINA, is a reboot of Go Nagai's original TV anime "Grendizer" (グレンダイザー), which aired from 1975 to 1977. The story follows Prince Duke Fleed of Planet Fleed, who escapes in Grendizer before his home planet's destruction, crash-landing in Riyadh in the Middle East on Earth and losing his memory. He is rescued by Sayaka Yumi, daughter of the Photon Power Laboratory director, and meets Koji Kabuto, living on a ranch under the identity of Daisuke Umon. When attacked by Vega's mechanical beasts, Daisuke regains his memories, summons Grendizer, and fights alongside Koji Kabuto, who pilots Mazinger Z.
This series' first release, the Grendizer pre-painted finished product, inherits the large scale of the Ultimate Article series, standing at 36 cm tall. Based on the new anime's mechanical design, it captures Grendizer in an attacking pose, leaning forward with one arm raised. The sculpting faithfully reproduces the details of the streamlined design. By swapping weapons, wrist, and arm parts, it can recreate dynamic poses holding the Double Harken (ダブルハーケン) and launching the "Screw Crusher Punch" (スクリュークラッシャーパンチ). Furthermore, the chest, eyes, horns, and arms feature LED lighting and sound effects. It also includes lines and sound effects recorded by Miyu Irino, the voice actor for Duke Fleed, allowing collectors to experience the powerful impact of the Guardian God of Planet Fleed both visually and audibly!
