Japanese toy brand SpiceSeed (スパイスシード), known for releasing numerous high-quality statues based on "Fist of the North Star" and "Kinnikuman," will once again launch a new product based on the classic manga series "Kinnikuman"—the "Kinnikuman Mariposa (Anime Ver.)" collectible statue. The suggested retail price is 65,780 JPY, with an estimated release in May 2025!
"Kinnikuman" is a manga series by Japanese mangaka Yudetamago, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from 1979 to 1987. In 1983, it was adapted into a TV anime by Toei and NTV, telling the story of "superhumans" who surpass ordinary humans, battling and wrestling various enemies in the ring in modern Japan.
"Kinnikuman Mariposa" first appeared in the Throne Succession Arc as one of the Five Fated Princes. His real name is George the Thief (ぬすっとジョージ), and he is possessed by the God of Flight, one of the Evil Gods. He grew up on the oxygen-scarce Mokutesuma Star, where he initially couldn't survive without an oxygen tank. However, due to poverty, he gradually adapted to a life of thievery without an oxygen tank, which granted him strong cardiopulmonary function, a highly elastic body, and exceptional jumping ability.
This "Kinnikuman Mariposa (Anime Ver.)" collectible statue stands approximately 25 cm tall and is crafted from resin. For the sculpting, Kinnikuman enthusiast Teacher Yoshiki Ito was once again invited to meticulously craft details such as the distance between the mask and the face, as well as Kinnikuman Mariposa's robust musculature throughout his entire body. The exposed arms and thighs, with their explosive muscles, exude a powerful presence! The paint application deepens the muscle shadows for a stronger overall contrast, and metallic paint is used for the costume and mask, faithfully recreating his appearance from the anime version!
