The action figure brand S.H.Figuarts, released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, has launched a new product based on the popular anime and manga series "One Piece" – the "Shanks & Monkey D. Luffy (Young Version)" action figure. The suggested retail price is 11,000 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in March 2025!
In the first and second chapters of "One Piece," a young Luffy encounters the Red-Haired Pirates docked at Foosha Village. He constantly pestered Shanks and his crew to take him out to sea, even accidentally eating a Devil Fruit from Shanks' ship and becoming a rubber man. Later, when Luffy was kicked into the sea by troublesome mountain bandits, he encountered a ferocious Sea King. Shanks intervened just in time to save him, but at the cost of his left arm. As Shanks prepared to leave Foosha Village, he entrusted his beloved straw hat to Luffy for safekeeping, promising to retrieve it once Luffy became a great pirate.
This "Shanks & Monkey D. Luffy (Young Version)" set revisits the initial emotional impact of "One Piece," themed around the story from chapters one and two. It includes an articulated action figure of Shanks and a non-articulated figure of young Luffy. The details faithfully recreate Shanks' appearance when he first appeared in East Blue. His iconic black coat is made of fabric material, allowing for various dynamic poses thanks to wires embedded in the edges. Accessories include Shanks' sword, multiple hand parts, hair parts, expression parts, and a replacement arm part depicting his bitten-off arm. Of course, the most important straw hat is also included, which, when paired with the young Luffy figure, allows for the recreation of that classic scene of entrusting the straw hat!
This set also includes an adult Luffy expression part, which can provide more varied expressions for the "S.H.Figuarts Monkey D. Luffy -The Dawn of Adventure-" figure, scheduled for release in August!
