The "Toho Large Monsters" series of soft vinyl monster figures, produced by Japan's PLEX Company and distributed by X-PLUS Company, which features monsters from Toho films, recently officially announced the latest product from the movie "Godzilla x Mechagodzilla," the "Type-3 Kiryu (2002)," scheduled for release in November 2024. This product will be available in two versions: the "High Mobility Type" for general retail and the "Heavy Armament Type" as a Shonen RIC exclusive.

The Mechagodzilla that appeared in the 2002 film "Godzilla x Mechagodzilla" is known in the film as Type-3 Kiryu, officially named "Multi-purpose Fighting System Type-3 (MFS-3)." This Kiryu was constructed by the Japanese government using the secretly salvaged skeleton of the original Godzilla from Tokyo Bay as its framework. Its propulsion system is controlled by a "DNA computer" structured from its bone marrow cells, allowing Kiryu to move with biological swiftness, fluidly execute close-quarters attacks, and even evade Godzilla's heat ray. It is also equipped with various armaments such as missiles, the Type-0 Railgun, Maser Blades, and the Type-3 Absolute Zero Cannon. However, the G-forces generated during operation are unbearable for ordinary humans, thus requiring remote control via the support aircraft "AC-3 Shirasagi."

The "Toho Large Monsters Type-3 Kiryu (2002) High Mobility Type" meticulously recreates the entire machine in three dimensions, based on in-film design data and the suit used. At an impressive height of approximately 29 cm, it features a cool armored design, intricate piping, and mechanical structures. The high-density dorsal fins and tail sculpt are also major highlights, faithfully reproducing its appearance from the film. It can be displayed alongside the previously released "Godzilla (2002)."

The "High Mobility Type," sold through general retail channels, does not include armaments such as the Type-0 Railgun or backpack, recreating its state during the decisive battle with Godzilla when it was disarmed to enhance mobility. The "Heavy Armament Type," sold exclusively by Shonen RIC, includes non-detachable armaments such as the Type-0 Railgun and backpack, recreating its heavily armed appearance with overwhelming firepower in its normal state.
