Following the release of the Humanoid Robot Unmanned Interceptor Großer Hund (Three-Machine Set), veteran Japanese toy manufacturer Kaiyodo's plastic assembly model series "ARTPLA" has recently announced its latest product from the mind of Japanese sci-fi military guru Kow Yokoyama's "Maschinen Krieger (Ma.K)": the "Final Hund Set & Jerry Can Man" (tentative translation, ファイナルフントセット＆ジェリ缶おじさん) 1/35 scale assembly model! It is scheduled for release in October 2024, with a suggested retail price of 6,200 JPY.
Kow Yokoyama's original SF series "Ma.K" is set in the 29th century, where Earth has been devastated by the Fourth World Nuclear War, practically becoming a dead planet. However, two factions still vie for supremacy over this land: the "Strahl Republic" and the "Earth Independent Government Mercenary Army." The rich array of toys and models derived from the combat armor and vehicles used by both sides has attracted a vast number of sci-fi military enthusiasts.
In the Ma.K setting, these units are the last three ground-type unmanned machines in the Strahl Army's Großer Hund series, hence Kow Yokoyama named them Final Hund. After improvements, the Final Hund features enlarged shoulder armor, and the anti-tank rocket launcher (Panzerschreck) mounted on its back has been upgraded to two twin-barrel launchers, totaling four rockets. Its head is equipped with enhanced search capabilities, and it comes with three different mask designs.
Once assembled, the ARTPLA series Final Hund stands approximately 9.5 cm tall. Sculpted by Akira Tani and Taro Murai, it fully captures the charm of Kow Yokoyama's mechanical design, showcasing the Final Hund's beautiful curves and intricate equipment details. The three units are named DACHSHUND, MASKENBALL, and KYKLOP, with corresponding molded colors of Dark Green, Red Brown, and Dark Yellow. Also included is the "Jerry Can Man" character, who appeared in "S.F.3.D.", molded in Caramel Brown. In addition to custom painting and modification, a limited decal sheet (1 piece) is provided to create a unique appearance.
