Bandai Spirits, a Japanese toy company, has announced today that the latest product in the 'Ultride Chronicle' series, which reissues mechanical toys from past 'Ultraman' series, will be the 'GUTS Eagle' from 'Ultraman Dyna', scheduled for release in March 2025. This product is identical to the version previously sold by Bandai China in 2023.
The GUTS Eagle, a fighter jet utilized by the Earth defense force "SUPER G.U.T.S" in 'Ultraman Dyna', is a large combat aircraft formed by the combination of the small, high-speed reconnaissance fighter "GUTS Eagle Alpha", the mobile command tower and bomber "GUTS Eagle Beta", and the combat patrol jet "GUTS Eagle Gamma". It boasts excellent speed and firepower, capable of firing the destructive "Tornado Thunder" beam, which converges the energy of all three machines, to combat monsters. Its combat capabilities can be deployed in environments such as Earth, Mars, and outer space.
The "Ultride Chronicle GUTS Eagle" is a modified design based on the "SGM DX GUTS Eagle" released between 1997 and 1998. Its overall size has been increased to 110%, and the detailed contours of the entire aircraft have been adjusted, with the cockpit area, in particular, more closely resembling the prop used in the show.
However, the original version sold back then featured metallic silver paint on many parts of the fuselage, and some components were even made of die-cast metal, providing a satisfying tactile experience of playing with a die-cast toy. While the reissued product retains the same transformation and combination mechanisms, all parts are now made of plastic with no die-cast components. The originally silver-painted fuselage has also been changed to a grayish-white plastic molded color, though some cannon barrels and thruster nozzles still retain their silver paint.
In addition to the original three-machine transformation and combination mechanism, the reissue also features enhanced light and sound effects. The cockpits of the Alpha and Beta units, as well as the muzzle of the Gamma unit, are equipped with illuminating lights. Furthermore, the Alpha and Beta units incorporate sound mechanisms capable of playing various sound effects, including weapon firing, tactical formations, and the ultimate weapon "Tornado Thunder".
