MEGAHOUSE, a Japanese toy company, will release a new product under its high-quality articulated figure series "Variable Action Hi-SPEC" based on the 2023 animated adaptation of "PLUTO" – the "Pluto" (プルートゥ) articulated figure. The suggested retail price is 25,630 JPY, with an estimated release in late March 2025!
"PLUTO" is a serialized manga drawn by acclaimed artist Naoki Urasawa from 2003 to 2009, adapted from the "The Greatest Robot on Earth" arc of Osamu Tezuka's "Astro Boy." In 2023, Studio M2 and GENCO collaborated to produce an animated adaptation, which was released on the streaming platform Netflix. The story follows the "world's greatest robots" being successively defeated by an unknown powerful force. Gesicht, a robot detective and one of the seven greatest robots, begins an investigation to prevent the situation from worsening, gradually approaching the truth behind "PLUTO."
To commemorate the anime adaptation of the work after 20 years, the strongest robot "Pluto," created by the personality of the AI Abullah from the highlands in the anime, is now being brought to life as a figure! The product stands approximately 29 cm tall and is supervised by Naoki Urasawa, faithfully reproducing Pluto's appearance from the anime. His tall and indestructible physique is meticulously sculpted, and the exaggerated horns on his head are also finely recreated. The matte metallic finish gives the entire figure an elegant, high-quality feel. Accessories include transparent horn replacement parts, two sets of interchangeable hands, and expression parts depicting hatred and anger. Combined with the highly articulated design throughout the body, it can precisely convey his agonizing yet powerful presence!
