Japan's Megahouse toy company, under its "UA Monsters" series which specializes in large-scale figures with sound and light effects, is launching a new product based on the movie "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" – "Mechagodzilla (1974)". The suggested retail price is 36,300 JPY, and it is expected to be released in January 2025!
The movie where Mechagodzilla first appeared, "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" (ゴジラ対メカゴジラ), released in 1974, was the 14th film in the Godzilla series and a commemorative film for Godzilla's 20th anniversary. In the film, the Third Planet aliens, desperate to invade Earth from their dying planet, created the heavy mechanical weapon "Mechagodzilla" in Godzilla's image. It was ultimately defeated by Godzilla, who teamed up with King Caesar.
This UA Monsters Mechagodzilla stands approximately 30 cm tall, meticulously recreating every intricate detail of Mechagodzilla's design. The exquisite painting technique faithfully reproduces the unique blue metallic finish of its "Space Titanium" armor. The head, jaw, and arms feature rotatable articulation, and the chest can be opened to reveal its internal structure. This figure also comes equipped with the series' signature sound and light effects. By activating the switch on the dedicated base, in "ON 1" mode, as a roar sounds, its eyes and abdominal firing ports will slowly illuminate. In "ON 2" mode, the rainbow-colored "Space Beam" from its eyes will be showcased through a six-color LED transformation, while LED lights on various parts illuminate to simulate the firing of finger missiles and the chest laser, demonstrating its formidable destructive power!
